Flex Business Interview: SPIN PALACE DANCE STUDIO
Who are you and where are you from?
I’m a Dance Studio Owner/Director – Woman Owned and Black Owned and I was born and raised in Detroit, MI
When did you first realize that you wanted to make a dance studio?
I wanted to open a dance studio years ago after learning that there were not a lot of dance studio options for children in the Metro Detroit area.
Who are your biggest influences?
After the city closed most of its recreation centers, it limited many activities for Detroit residents, especially children. I was a cheerleader and dancer all throughout school. I always wanted to do something that I love doing, while also helping serve my community. So, I thought I could accomplish this by giving people a safe and comfortable environment and offer affordable dance instruction, workshops and events adults and children at a dance studio. We are also offering summer jobs for our senior dancers.
Do you use already created choreography or do you make up your own sets?
We create all of our choreography.
What is your current project about?
My current project is an Easter Celebration for our Metro Detroit families.
Where do you see yourself in five years
In the next five years, I want to have multiple locations for Spin Palace Dance Studio. I would like to be in a place where I can offer more free and fun services for the community.
